Channa has always maintained an active interest in education, youth development, and entrepreneurship. While pursuing his Bachelor’s in Business Economics at Brown University, he ventured down College Hill weekly to mentor middle school students. While at Brown, he also found time to foster a serious interest in business. His business team, NetEffect Education Solutions, won both the Brown Entrepreneurship Program’s Elevator Speech Contest and the Brown $50K Business Plan Competition. After graduation, he worked in the business sector for two years before making the switch to working with federally funded TRIO programs (Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search). Growing up in Lynn, Massachusetts as a Cambodian refugee gave Channa valuable insights in responding to the needs of students. He joined TPP after earning his Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. When Channa is not saving the world one student at a time, he enjoys playing guitar, going to concerts, and lounging around in bookstores and cafés while sipping coffee and reading poetry…well, maybe not so much the “reading poetry” part.
